You cannot change what you do not confront
YOUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION
I am willing to go to the uncomfortable side and confront my fear and doubts to achieve my goals!
I am sure you heard the idea that people have 4 types of attachment styles. Well recently, I took the test and found out that I have an avoidant attachment style. At first it was a shock because, “What do you mean I avoid things that make me uncomfortable” because I had always prided myself for being someone who always faced things head-on.
But I later realized that was not true, as I continued to move through my week, I started noticing patterns of avoidance when I thought the outcome wasn’t going to be what I preferred.
In things like:
Not finishing what I started because the result was not what I wanted.
Having ideas for content but deleting them because I though they weren’t “good enough”.
Over-planning because I wanted to delay the start time to prevent failure.
That’s not all but you get the idea. So this week I want you to confront what you have been avoiding.
What is something you have been wanting to do for a while but fear has held you back?
What have you already started already but are afraid to continue because of doubt?
A very effective way for you to do this is to become an observer in your life for the next 24 hours. Look at how to move through your day, what habits you have in place and what patterns you follow. This will help you learn more about yourself.
After seeing the patterns you follow, be honest with yourself and have “The Talk”. Ask yourself questions like:
Why do I follow this pattern?
Is this adding to my life or preventing me from accelerating?
Am I doing this because of a limiting belief that I have? If so, what?
Is this pattern caused by fear, self-doubt, or something deeper?
Don’t forget: Hiding from yourself is only going to hurt you more. What you avoid today will come back to bite you tomorrow, so do it now, even if it’s uncomfortable.
This Week’s Blog edition
We all start with the best intention - new planners, vision boards, motivational speeches and playlists but somewhere in all that preparation, we fall before we even begin. I used to ask myself, why does that happen?
We prepare. We buy the tools. We hype ourselves up.
So why do we still struggle to follow through?
Because preparation feels productive — but it’s not the same as action.
Writing about your characters isn’t the same as writing your book. Planning out your day isn’t the same as actually living it. Watching productivity videos or curating the perfect morning routine doesn’t make you productive. These things feel like progress, and that’s the trap.
Preparation gives us a sense of control.
